Dorm Room Movers

They lost everything and have done absolutely nothing to help us/the school to recover the missing items!!! My son’s entire boarding school life is MIA. I have contacted the company and there is no response besides a chatbot with article suggestions about hiring the services. Our Dorm Room Movers account has been wiped clean of information. The SMS sent asking for an evaluation of services (the only real concern) lead to the company blaming my kids school for 5 missing boxes!! As a school, I would never hire this company, regardless of the commission they pay you. As a parent, understand that it might go wrong (items returning moldy, boxes getting lost, etc). I would not bother to prepare boxes because the countless hours spent itemizing content and packing carefully can go to waste. My son is now stuck starting the school year without any personal items, school supplies, bedding, toiletries, sports clothes or winter coat (IN NEW HAMPSHIRE). Thanks “Hiva” for handling our account so unprofessionally! Disappointed is an understatement…

This company gave great service; scheduling was easy both picking up and bring it back to campus. They were on time during my son’s move out day from his dorm and just as punctual in dropping off his stuff. The price was fair for storage for 3 months and there were no surprises, no hidden fees. I would definitely use their service again. Very happy customer!

We had a great experience with the movers that moved my daughter out of her college in NYC. However when we tried to arrange the move back everything became a nightmare. We were misinformed on when they would be available to move her back in. I spent 45 minutes on the initial sale call to ensure we covered everything. We were told that all we needed to do was notify them and if it was not a "free"date then we would be charged a fee. This is NOT what happened. We were lied to and told by one representative that they could not move her in on the date she was scheduled because we had taken too long (we gave them a week notice) because they required two weeks and that the day she was assigned was already "sold out' because they have a cap and all the spots were take. After multiple calls this turned out to not be true. The day there were offering was not feasible because my daughter is an upper class person and she was not allowed to move in on that day. After multiple phone calls, we finally found out that they are not open on the weekends, which we were never told despite the fact that 1) I asked if there were any restrictions when I was contracting them and 2) the weekend are prime days for move in for her university, which they assured us they had a lot of years of experience working with. Now we are left with my daughter moving into school without her things for four days and with her having to completely unpack and set herself up the day classes start and having to miss out several activities that she was scheduled for. I try not to leave negative reviews because I am a small business owner too. Out of countless reviews I have left over the years on many platforms, this is about the third of fourth negative review I have ever left. This situation is unacceptable. All of my daughter's friends and teammates are having a very smooth move in experience except for one particular friend and I will give you ONE guess which company he had the misfortunate of using too? From about 40 to 50 people on her team, she and her friend are the only ones having to move in without their needed belongings because they both used Dorm Room Movers. Take this account as you will. I am leaving this review so that parents looking into hiring this company know that despite all the other positive experiences everything does not go smoothly with Dorm Room Movers. I am not sure how often our experience happens to others hiring them but I do know that not everyone takes the time to share. ADDED: your reply is not truthful and your own employees admitted that I was grossly misinformed by the agent we first spoke. I repeatedly asked you to pull the calls because I was being accurate about the situation and how it unfolded. You NEVER told us during the initial registration call any of these details and specifically told us exactly what I stated in my original review. Yes, we are now scheduled because we have no option but to take the day you are forcing us to take. If you have been working with our school, which I did not give your permission to note because you are disclosing publicly the school my child attends, then you must KNOW that they have move in dates on Labor Day every single year and you work with partners that are not available and do not disclose this information when families are registering. ETA: the refrigerator was damaged and banged up and not working. It was only a few months old when we stored it and cost almost $400. We are being compensated $100. On the move back date, the movers did not want to bring the items to her dorm and wanted her to walk almost 3 blocks to go pick up her furniture and 5 large boxes. My daughter had to have a male friend facing the same issues with this company step in and demand that the movers uphold the contract and deliver the items to the room.

I would give them a zero stars if I could. They have terrible customer service and I never received my box that I put in storage over the summer. I have called their customer service line countless times and each time they have told me to contact UPS instead. I contact UPS and they tell me to contact DormRoomMovers. I have been contacting DormRoomMovers and UPS for at least three months now and both have been absolutely no help. I have my belongings in that box and no amount of money can replace the things in the box. They have been so unresponsive to my needs. There is not much else I can do from my end and it is very frustrating. All I want is to get my box of belongs back from storage. I have already filed a claim with DormRoomMovers and with UPS, which was not helpful at all.

Very easy and friendly to deal with. I only had just a bit to comment…we got a text that they were delivering my son’s things Btwn 9:45-12:45 and he was not gonna be in town. We requested to have a later time so that he could be present and was told no they can’t accommodate. Then the day of the move, we got a text that they were coming Btwn 3-6 pm which worked beautifully. All together they are great! I would definitely recommend and will use in future if we need again. Thank you.
